Wheel fitment on R53 JCW

Can someone tell me if a set of 18" wheels off of an R56 JCW will fit on a 05 R53 JCW? Any input is appreciated

They will fit, but I think 18's are too big for a Mini. Fine a set of light weight 16 inch wheels, add a good set of 205/50-16 tires, and rock-n-roll!

They should be exactly the same fitment as any 18 inch wheels that were available on an R53 . . so yes (if they are OEM wheels)

Spoiler

As Noonzio said… any factory 18 will run fine on there

as long as you are running a factory diameter tite… 24.5” diameter or smaller… you will be fine.

ive Run 18” Advan RSII’s on one of my R53… +45 offset, no spacers… with 205/40R18 … ran well. I also ran 215/35R18 tires … to keep the diameter acceptable for fit on a 53 while going wider… but feel the 205 is a great width on the 18’s

18’s are great so long as you drive on decent roads with no potholes … really don’t like to have a lowered suspension on these minis (which equals less suspension travel/compliance/performance on real roads)… though many on NAM will have both lower cars AND 18’s and love the look while tolerating the harsher
ride from the lowering/stiffening

.

someone correct me if I am wrong....but the R53 will have 12mm lug bolts, and the R56 will have 14mm lug bolts? So are the holes in the wheels different sizes as well?

I'm pretty sure all the wheels for the first gens were drilled for 14 mm bolts even though they didn't switch the hubs to 14 mm until late 2006.

which is why I asked...I remember someone in here had issues with the different size wheel lug holes....they were not big enough for fitment on a late '06 and newer

maybe I'm overthinking this

A lot of aftermarket wheels are drilled for 12 mm studs. I have to run a 14 mm to 12 mm stud conversion for my wheels. He's going the opposite direction, so even if the wheels were drilled differently (they aren't), he'd be fine.
