Thanks Jonny --- I saw that and queried them but they never responded, asked them last week if they actually had it on hand and in stock.
May try again.
I like these M7 plates because of the curled edge, all the replica or DIY ones in PVC don't have that curved edge and just doesn't look as good in my opinion.
Was thinking if I can't get one that I'd attempt to fabricate one out of thin aluminum, going old world and make a buck to beat the panel to get that nice curved edge.
CL may pay off, just today contacted a seller/dealer down in Boca Raton and spoke with him on the phone, I had noticed a car he was selling had one and asked if he'd be willing to sell it to me but he couldn't give a definitive answer and told me to call back on Thurs, so guess I'll find out then.
btw,
the car for sale has that horrible 'saturated with silicone' look and I just don't understand people who apply the dressing but never wipe it down and rub it in --- that actually bugs me more than the missing i/c cover! LOL
There’s OB with his eagle eye, nice score (hopefully) I was planning on one of those but kinda hard to come by, big 3D Printer, or smaller two piece would do the trick. Sent you an email. Glossy armorall, I put that stuff on everything lol.
I'm kicking myself for not getting one of these before they got NLA, was gonna get a fiberglass one and had in basket several times but had more pressing needs in the parts department so kept delaying just thinking I'd get it later,
well nope.
LOL
Check this guy out on Facebook (Jamie Carter). He’s in the UK and produces air diverters and front bumper splitters for the R53. Not sure wether he’ll post to the USA but it’s worth a try.
Detail as to what I'm on about,
the curved lip of the M7 unit makes it integrate so much better in my opinion, and this aspect for me is mostly an aesthetic thing anyway as in my view it sort of 'cleans up' that frontal area when the bonnet is popped.
If you space the one from the uk out just a bit they cover that front lip a little better. Sit flush. But I do agree with you. The m7 has that nice detail finish. I bought an rpm and am satisfied for the price after shipping.
That diverter intrigued me too, so added to cart last night and wrote them to determine availability.
Got reply overnight - nope, not available. PM sent to OBS with specific response...
@Bhob13 - thanks for the tip about spacers as I did not think of that, and also appreciate your review of being satisfied with the quality
@smlzilla - looks ace mate! Thanks for sharing the pic (I'm jealous!)
@MCS4FUN - much thanks for passing along that info, had a feeling that their online inventory wasn't up-to-date
As for my guy from the CL ad, well now it's in limbo, rather odd because I had my hopes up due to him being very receptive and responsive, but also a bit sketched because CL y'know? Called him yesterday morn and he told me he'd call me back when he got to the shop but a few hours later he didn't and I rang him up but no answer, tried again a couple hours later but still no answer. May try again today as I'm tenacious like a terrier and don't wanna let it go LOL but at this point it looks like a no score
This morning while browsing FB, I noticed this really cool new spoiler design by LEAP,
the Aero 2 -
I think it looks great!
Seeing it made want to check the LEAP site for details and while there noticed that they now make a rad diverter plate! It wasn't there the last time I checked their site, so I was super stoked to see it, but it was only available in carbon fiber, I'm just not much of a carbon guy so I contacted them and asked if a primered fiberglass version was available and they said YES.
They just added that option today after my inquiry and I placed my order.
^^^ I'm looking at their site now for ordering one too. Mine being MINImalist wrt mods appearance (sleeper!), I'm thinking primered too and simply painting with Krylon Fusion in matte black? Only genuine CF on mine are the hood scoop and rear license plate frame, which is plenty 'nuff bling for me. Interesting business, "hecho en Mexico"...
Further viewing Leap's online products suggests those marketed as "carbon fiber" are actually fiberglass with perhaps genuine or faux CF film bonded on top. If so, adds a lot of extra cost with questionable durability. The topic radiator diverter in primered fiberglass avoids that but even at $120 on sale plus $70 shipping (from Mexico) for $190 total, not particularly cheap for what it is. Thinking I'll wait for updates after subsequently received and installed.
I would have thought shipping may be cheaper for you since you're in Arizona but I guess not.
$65 for me was the charge and yeah it's sort of a bummer because it substantially adds to the cost, but I've been wanting one of these badly so took the plunge.
I have one of their fiberglass bonnet scoops and it's very well made compared to some of the alternatives I've seen pictures of so I was confident enough that the rad diverter will be of decent quality, although likely will need a bit of prep work to get good perfect paint on it.
If I remember correctly, the M7 fiberglass version was priced at around $140?
The M7 carbon version was quite a good bit more $$$
The sad crash of BlimeyCabrio shows an M7 carbon piece after impact,
actually appears to have held up rather well...
