I just received a 2008 non-s hatchback and noticed something.
I have never owned a vehicle with a panoramic sunroof before and thought something odd.
When I close the doors the rear sunroof pops up then back down.
It also seems to sit lower at the rear of the glass than the roof line as well, like 6mm lower.
Are these things normal or something I'll have to address?

That's normal.

That's not normal. The rear end of the glass should sit .5 to 1 mm raised above the roof line to reduce wind
noise.
There's a fix though. Do a search for panoramic sunroof adjustment and browse the "how-to" forum section.
Short: Slightly loosen the screws along the frame left and right while sitting on the rear seat, push the glass
section up and tighten the screws carefully. For the record, BMW says you should replace the screws since
there's some thread locker applied to them.
