Minor roof problem

My 2008 clubmanS has the big sunroof and occassionaly when I depress the button, it gets stuck and I have to toggle it back and forth to open. Can I just spray silicone onto the track where the roof goes to loosen it up a bit? It often gets stuck in the closed position.

Not sure about the silicone but you might find some good info in this thread. You're not alone. I've had it stick a couple of times. My MA told me they could fix it with a software upgrade but I have yet to have them look at it yet.

Mine did the same thing, that is until last week. I had the car in for an oil change and mentioned the sunroof. They told me that they adjusted it and lubed it up, and now it doesn't do it anymore.

On the papers I got back it says

"Customer stated intermittently the sunroof will not open after the car has been sitting in the sun.
The rear sunroof glass panel was not adjusted properly and insufficient lubrication sunroof cassette. Checked operation and verified the complaint. Per bulletin 54 03 08 adjusted the sunroof glass panels and lubricated the cassette. Reinitialized the sunroof motor and checked operation and the sunroof is working properly at this time"
