Annoying delay to turn off car

I'm wondering if this is common, or if my F55 is just being annoying (or maybe I'm the problem).

When I arrive at my destination, I put my Mini in park, take my foot off the brake, and press the on/off switch. Then, of course, I have to press it one more time to fully turn it off (turn the accessory mode off). That's normal. The issue is that if I don't wait about 3 seconds before pressing the switch the last time, nothing happens. Is there a built in delay, where you have to wait a few seconds before you can turn off the accessories, or am I doing it wrong? Anybody else experience this?

In our F54, if you open the door after turning off the engine, everything else shuts off automatically. Maybe skip the second button press and just get out of the car.
