"Safe" Boost with 91 Octane

Hello,

I recently changed the tuner from Dinan Sports to RaceChip GTS. I realized RaceChip pushes higher boost and hit that boost more consistently. Dinan Sport Tuner has Sports + and Race setting but Dinan does not recommend Race setting for 91 Octane. I believe with Sports + setting, it was spiking up to15psi at high load (highway speed with higher gear) and around 12psi for lower gear pull. With RaceChip, at 4th highest setting out of 7, it hits 15psi consistently. With 5th setting, it goes up to 16-18psi. I feel 16-18psi is too aggressive so I'm staying at 4th setting for now.

Does anyone with 91 octane have experience with RaceChip GTS? What max boost do you feel is okay (not going kaboom right away) as daily?

FYI: I don't have any supporting mod other than the intake and I'm not planning to do much.

Thanks!

The biggest problem with the piggy-back tune boxes is they are still limited to running off the stock control maps. They trick the stock ECU to run on a different part of the boost maps to get a slightly higher boost out of the turbo. Because of that, you are effectively still limited to the stock timing maps. I wouldn't want to go to the highest settings on any of those piggy-back boxes without at least 93+ octane fuel. If you only have 91 available, keep them on the middle settings.
