R58 JCW whine\screech under under load

Hi everyone,

I have a n18 jcw coupe.

Just changed turbocharger, alternator, water pump, water pulley, friction wheel, crank pulley, and tried 2 belts..

This bloody whine/screech is coming from the right side (i think).
Its only noticeable when im in gear.
Its not present when the car is in neutral ???

What could cause this?
Didnt have this Sound before i changed everything.

As I mentioned in your other thread, sounds like it’s turbo intake noise, which would be normal for a larger turbo and aftermarket intake.

What was the reason for changing the turbo? If the new one is actually working now, it will pull more air. Open intakes let all the suction noises out, too. If you had an intake leak, you would have a code.

Seriously, sounds normal to me. Please list all modifications, and a picture of your engine bay. Go grab a video of a full throttle pull.

Hi mate,

You were absolutely right! It's coming from the air filter cone. I noticed it during a cold start the suction noise was coming from there.

I'm running a scorpion catless downpipe + cooper S N14 centrepipe.
Turbo had 110.000 miles on it and little bit of turbine play.

Is this normal? Why is only audible under light load an not under full throttle ?

Cheers

Under full throttle it likely gets drowned out by the other engine and exhaust noises.
