F55/F56 Removing Sunroof Shade
Removing Sunroof Shade
Hello all,
Sadly the front sunroof shade in my ‘18 F56 S has ripped on both sides after getting stuck and is sagging down whenever I close it. Can anyone tell me the process of removing it? I do not want to replace it as I barely ever have it closed, and there are detachable solutions available aftermarket that are much better. The factory shade is a garbage design, I had to warranty so many of them on stock units when I worked at a dealer.
Speaking of, the dealership wants over $500 just to remove it, which I laughed at because the replacement parts aren’t even factored in. But I digress. At any rate, what all is involved in taking this shade out. All I can find are R56 videos, and having done DIY work on my F, I’m painfully aware how little is similar between the two lol. Any help is appreciated. Cheers!

@Graysojj I'm right there with you.
The brackets holding the roller blinds are broken on my Mini S 2014 F56. My blinds are fine, but the bracket is what I need to replace (the bracket holding the rollers in broke, so the rollers are stuck). It's $350-400 for the part itself and comes with the new bracket and roller blinds.
Anyway, going to look into getting some help in NYC to remove the sunroof once I purchase the part.
Half contemplating buying a 3D printer to print the part and start selling it.

:-( I'm sad to hear this... my 2016 cooper (Nigel) is just past his 5th birthday with 60,000 miles and nothing has gone wrong with my Nigel yet::fingers crossed:: and I do open and close the shades regularly depending on where the sun is in the afternoons.
