R53 JCW Wing Questions

Hey guys,

I guess I should have been asking this before I made the purchase, but I got an R53 (Aero? JCW?) wing from Russia. Now, I've had my R53 since 2002, and I've always wanted this. Finally just pulled the trigger on it, and said screw it since they're getting so hard to find. A few questions:

1. Is this a JCW part, or an OEM MINI Part? I know in 2002, BMW had not yet purchased the JCW brand.
2. Did this wing come in CF as well as painted? If it never came primed to be painted (all-plastic), and only in CF, then this is a fake. I just don't remember, and can't find anything online about it.
3. What other distinguishing factors can I check to see if this is the real deal, or if it is a knockoff?

Thank you

Are you referring to the one that gets glued to the hatch? Like this one? I think those only came in carbon, and they're the only JCW spoiler I know of other than the GP spoiler.

Both, the spoiler was first available in April 2005 at that point MINI and John Cooper Works worked together so they probably designed the spoiler together.

As far as I know they only came in a combination of Carbon fiber and plastic, the top of the spoiler is CF, the bottom black plastic and the "legs" as well as the sides were painted.
Four options were available
1. Wing in Black Metallic MINI P/N: 51710392168, JCW P/N: JCW445
2. Wing in Black MINI P/N: 51710406291, JCW P/N: JCW446
3. Wing in Aspen White MINI P/N: 51710406292, JCW P/N: JCW447
2. Wing in Dark Silver MINI P/N: 51710406293, JCW P/N: JCW448

I'm not sure at the JCW wing but any other spoiler has the P/N stamped on the bottom or has a sticker. I case of the JCW you'll probably find it on the base of the spoiler which mounts to the roof.

I believe it has this P/N stamped on the bottom of the wing yes. I have this spoiler and absolutely love the look of it
