Passenger restraint system error

Hi all

I wanted to replace my front and rear seats so looked at the guides on the internet. Disconnected the battery first and did the swap. I then reconnected the battery and turned on the car but realised
the drivers side seatbelt where it runs from the side of the car to the black metal on the base of the seat (looks like a big black bottle opener!) wasn’t connected

i got the dreaded passenger restraint system error

i then checked the connections under the front seats (yellow electrical boxes) and one might have been loose as well as it wasn’t fully clipped in

My questions are

1) would either of these 2 mistakes caused this error message
2) if not, could it be the seats I bought are faulty?
3) should I just buy an odb reader and appropriate app and try and clear the error message first? I’m based in the uk. Can you recommend a relatively cheap reader and app that I could use please. I am not very technical (as you can tell from my numerous mistakes!)

sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for the help!

First thing I would do is reinstall the original seats, and see if it goes away.
