DAB (Digital) Radio issue.
DAB (Digital) Radio issue.
Has anybody had issues with the DAB radio in their Coopers. I can occassionally see a selection of stations but get no reception. Most of the time I just get the 'No Signal' message. I have selected 'All Ensembles' but nadda, nothing. I found a module in the back called a Diversity Amplifier so will be researching that. Hopefully somebody has some knowledge or tips. Cheers Delboy
So after much investigation I followed the wiring for the DAB, shark fin antenna to the footwell fusebox. There are 3 connections behind the panel. The DAB has a white plug. I purchased a cheap windscreen mount DAB antenna and a female FAKRA/smb adapter. Connected it all up and bingo. DAB radio is restored.
I discovered a lot about the conviluted radio aerial system on the R59 Roadster.
The shark fin antenna on the boot lid is for the DAB III Band used in the UK. This connects directly to the Head Unit.
The wing mounted whip aerial is FM/AM and their is another antenna FM/DAB L Band mounted in the rear bumper. Both these are amplified and pass through the Diverstiy amp.
I also discovered the MINI OEM Shark Fin antenna costs £100 for a new one. My solution cost £20 and works a treat.
