Hello all, lately my r53 is making me want to sell it, but I don’t want to give up on her.
The few days I’ve been developing a sound under load, and it sounds pulley related as it goes with my sc. The car drives fine when not under load, no noises, and turns over no problem.
This morning as I was giving her the beans, I came across this disgusting noise that is clipped here https://sndup.net/9hvp. Sorry for the sketchy link but I didn’t know where to upload it otherwise.
I believe it is my alternator pulley or alternator as my battery failed last season and I had to charge it(it was also 9 years old) new battery put in few weeks ago. Running 2 12 inch subs and a 600 watt amp as well.
Anyone have any other ideas?
16% pulley, m7 intake, exhaust, and 1step colder
Will do a load test on battery and keep you guys updated. Thank you.
Hello friends, if anyone is following this thread, I have found the problem.
here's the belt absolutely mangled here's the sc pulley with a bolt loose
either the tensioner gave out, or the pulley came loose and disorientated the belt, leading to it getting mangled.
will replace the belt and tighten up the pulley n post the results.

Okay, so reinstalled the pulley with a new belt, bolts were as tight as can be without stripping them, all the pulleys were aligned. Sounds good right?
Nope.
Start the car and immediately the sc pulley backs of 1/4 of an inch. This has been my problem all along. The pulley slowly backed its way out to the point where my belt was getting chewed.
Now I have to pray to god that there is no shaft damage, and buy another pulley with this one being only 1 month old.
m7 is aluminum and I assume that’s what makes it easier to slide.
craven speed it is…
anyone else have this problem or heard about it with the m7?
If the shaft on the supercharger is a little messed up you may need to get the other style. It has bolts on the inner piece that clamps it to the shaft.
