Hello! Recently bought a 2019 4 Door Cooper S. Have owned two Minis previously, both 2 door hatches. I’m not as in love with the 4 door as I hoped I would be and recently saw the exact car as a 2 door at a dealer. Would it be nuts to trade so soon?

 

You’ll take a hit on the depreciation, so I would recommend keeping the 4-door for at least a year, just for the financial reason.

That being said, it’s your money and sanity.

I traded my Countryman for a 4Runner. It took a year to regret it, and then I decided to trade the 4Runner in for a new JCW Hatch. It is what it is.

 

I would suggest to keep it for now until the pandemic situation recover. Money can be deploy into equity market rather into a depreciating asset. Newer models will eventually be introduce and IMO you won’t miss out on anything. If it’s an broken, why change it

 

Talk to your dealer and have them run thro options and $$ before ruling anything in/out. That way you are armed with the data to support your emotions

* IN the UK and Canada, i know dealer stock on good quality low mileage late cars is super low.
I've had friends looking to trade in their new ish minis have the trade in value increase significantly in the last 6 months

If the dealer has an in stock 3 door they could take your arm off to a) get the sale and b) make more $$ on your almost new 5 door.
