Does anyone know if Mini Connected services include a WiFi hotspot?

Presumably Mini is using some sort of cellular data connection for Connected services but I’m guessing that it isn’t something that can be used for anything else.

Just wondering if anyone here knows any details...

You are correct MINI does use an embedded cellular telematics system for emergency calling, remote door unlock and for other features.

However, MINI does not offer a Wi-Fi hotspot via cellular data and would be amazing if they did.

Yeah too bad they don't offer a WiFi hotspot. That would be awesome. I guess I'd rather they did one thing well and not two things half-baked.

One of my other cars has in-car WiFi and I don’t use it. Less expensive to just expand my cellphone’s data plan and use it as a hotspot if I have the need to use WiFi on a device without a cellular connection.

 

I have a specific use case I am looking at where I want my car to have a cellular connection with a wifi hotspot 24/7. I have been researching this and it looks like I need to get a purpose-built wifi hotspot.
