Good Afternoon,

Any suggestions for the best carnauba wax?

Thanks,

Personally I use Griot's and am very happy with it and all their other products, but carnauba is carnauba.

Hi BobHMini,

Now that’s a loaded question

Personally I use AMMO NYC products. The creator of them Larry believes in building “layers of protection” on the paint.

Here’s the link to his wax: https://www.ammonyc.com/product/ammo...lective-paste/

It’s so smooth and makes the paint look dripping wet.

With that being said, I’ve used others before with mixed results and since finding AMMO NYC I’ve never used another product.

He also has a YouTube channel, other products and gives out his email if you have questions.

I hope this helps,

Rich

Here’s a picture of my MINI detailed with AMMO NYC products

I've had good luck with Meguiar's and Mother's Carnuba's. Both go on and buff off nicely.

Why carnuba? Just out of curiosity. There are a lot of newer technology wax-like coatings that go on easier, and come off easier, and last longer (ceramic, sio2, graphene)...

For 'natural wax' ... I've used this for years on modern base/clear paints and older nitrocellulose-lacquer paints with stunning results.

Hi F56-JCDub,

I have always thought that carnuba gave you the best results. Cost and time to apply are not a factor, I am just looking for the best results. What do you use on your car?

Thank you,
Bob

Hey Bob,

When I was single and had more time and fewer responsibilities, I used carnuba waxes too - and they do a decent job. They just don't last as long as I want/need them to.

I've used a bunch of waxes ranging from Turtle Wax, Meguiar's, Zymol's Original Formula, Griot's Garage, Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax, etc.

I then started to try out the polymer/ceramics like Sonax Net Shield, Optimum Gloss-Coat, and Ceramic Pro (got through a friend).

Recently I started using 303's Graphene Nano Spray Coating. It goes on like your typical ceramic; overlapping cross-hatch pattern. Let it haze over and look for high/low spots and redo those spots as necessary. Buff it off like a normal wax. Apply a second coat for best results. Lasts for months. I then add some gloss to it with CarPro's Elixir. Shines like no other.

303's Graphene isn't as good as say a heavy-duty ceramic coating, but it's also way cheaper and easier to do. If Cost/Time aren't an issue, I'd do Ceramic Pro or CarPro CQuartz (or any other high-end ceramic) and CarPro's Elixir as a booster/reload.

I had used EXCALIBUR wax for years (decades). However, I think Turtle Wax bought them out, and then closed the brand down.

My feelings too. Traditional wax choices to me were kinda like looking for the best DVD player.

I gambled and dropped the money on a detailer to paint correct and coat in ceramic coating. ( i went with the opti coat pro plus) . I justified it to myself with time savings and the accumulated cost of continued rewax. Plus i hate detailing.

Now with other advanced i feel im one step off the pace with the PPF film coatings.

Id suggest solutions like PPF film top price and longevity. Pro level ceramic coatings in the mid to upper. (guarantee periods vary wildly as do costs) and the synthetic products every 4-6 months as the best of the self administered. like Merzerna powerlock.

My plan is to do 3M Pro or XPel Ultimate PPF from a reputable installer this time around. They can come to the dealer and do it before I drive the car home. The front bumper is gonna be a pain the *** to do and I want a pro to do the hood/bonnet. I'll probably do the rocker panels myself with the pre-cut kits and if I get confident with that, I'll do the front fenders, and go from there.

i’ve seen the commercials for 303 Graphene but haven’t tried it. I have been using Mother’s CMX which is their version of a ceramic wax. It goes on as you described with the 303 and shines very nicely.

When my new Cooper S arrives, the plan is ceramic coating and PPF on day one. The only thing I use carnauba paste wax for anymore is windows:

Pinnacle Souveran has done well for me on this 10 year old R56 (64k mikes). For “over the counter”Griots Best In Show or even the 3 n 1 (carnuba/cleaner) wax is decent.

The best stuff I have used so far, (45 years of babying cars) is Renegade Products: Rebel Hydro Guard Ceramic Spray. Stupid simple to use, gives a great shine and long lasting. I know everyone has an opinion, there are a ton of good products out there, but it’s also a mine field of junk. Good to have a list of things that work to choose from.

I used to use Griot's. It was really good stuff. Then I went to Klasse all-in-one, and then when i have time, their Sealant Glaze.

Almost no one likes the natural wax after a day. Reason? it attracts dust and weird gunk much easier than no wax or the acrylic stuff i put on nowadays. The Klasse system lasts me 10 months on Long Island, no garage. I use Sonus spritz stuff after most washes to just shine it up. This apparently extends the wax/acrylic indefinitely. I will be removing it all this week and starting again. Probably polishing some.

Natural paste wax is really great if you can keep it clean before going out. It is bad in the summer sun, can wear off fast as it becomes softer. Fall and winter, the griot's paste lasted me just about all winter. Can't bother with it anymore and just use Klasse. Klasse looks amazing, just people dont want to admit it. Even simple all-in-one and nothing else looks awesome.
