half my radio just doesn't want to work

Hello All!

I am hoping the collective knowledge will figure out my issue. My brain is now spent.

Bought my wife a used 2014 Minis Countryman, it has the HK system but not nav. Everything on this car works great except the radio.

When you hit the power or radio button nothing happens. The menu and phone buttons work and the rotary dial on that side works.
My phone is connected and I can take and make calls just fine. In my mind this proves the AMP and the SPEAKERs work so I am not looking towards that issue. I can scroll through the menu setting just fine.

I have check all fuses and even placed a 30 amp in the radio slot in the fuse panel under the hood.

Other than pulling the dash apart, which I am not too keen on doing I am not sure what to do. I can't seem to find any manual of any kind for this year and model which is fantastic for the DIYers of the world.

it is like half of the radio group is just not hooked up.

any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance.

almost 300 views and no responses, this is very telling of the mindset of the group. I am sorry to have thought this forum would be helpful. Have a great day.

Likely a bad connector or a loose one. Could be on either end of a wiring loom. Good luck.

if you check realoem.com I think you'll see there is no breakout of parts for the head unit ... it only comes as a complete unit (you can get new *****) ..... so short of replacing the entire thing I suspect you are stuck
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=65_2205
but a visit to a good audio specialist shop might be a good idea ....

HK usually adds cost to any repair and more parts to fail ... the amp being historically a problem

Thanks for the response. It is looking more and more like I need to replace the whole unit. Since I can't find a schematic anywhere or a manual to show how detailed the removal is I will get stuck paying for it to be done. Nice car but had I known manuals stop at 2013 I probably would not have bought this car. Thanks again for at least some useful information. good day.

@RickMorgan did you come to any conclusion with this? Call a dealership? I have the same issue (it sounds like) in my 2013 S - I can't turn it off or switch mode of AM/FM so I'm stuck with AM and have been relying on CDs for decent tunes.

I'd love to at least know what's going on and if it's a common issue. Cheers

The closest dealer is over 3 hours away and they are unwilling to even talk to me about trouble shooting over the phone. I don't really want to have to take a couple days off work to spend time in Portland to just find out it was a fuse or loose cable. So my wife has decided it is time to go back to a Mazda. This Mini will ne going back on sale shortly.
Other than the radio it is a fantastic car.
