Power steering..huge problem..

So last night I had to pick my plow truck up.. I decided I would take my mini r53. Went out in it was dead.. not even a flicker.. so I got my hyundai, and tried jump starting it.. well it was snowing bullets I had no light. And I accidentally put the positive on the quick attach negative...ya I I still can't believe it... all said in done now I have now power steering.. meanwhile I had the recall done a year ago on the whole power steering assembly... do you guys think I fried the power motor?? Or? Any tips ? Tests I can do? Besides the 39 fuse or what ever? I almost wrecked it cause I forgot how heavy the wheel is with no power... un real tbh I'm so pissed at my self for rushing. Any help is more then.

There is a 50 (?) Amp fuse under the fuse box for the power steering. Check that first. I heard of one person blowing that around here.

It's a 100 amp, but yeah, it's under the fuse box and not that fun to access.

Since that 100A fuse only protects the PowerSteering Hydralic pump it probably means it shorted out and it fried it open, A new pump is around $400 or so.

I think there’s a 2 year warranty on most genuine parts and maybe the labor. The parts still might have a warranty even if installed yourself or by an independent. I would check with MINI before buying another pump.

Before buying a new one, check to see if there is continuity across the motor leads. It should read very low on an ohm meter.
