This is more of a curiosity than anything else. Wondering what this part on the very front of the driver side cross member is (picture shows the front of the car in service mode).
I don't see it referenced in the shop manual or on RealOEM. It only exists on the driver side on my car. The pax side cross member has no such part on the front.
(To be clear I'm talking about the aluminum colored piece of metal resting on the bolts protruding from the front of the red crossmember).
Just wondering what it's function might be.
“This metal shim with holes for bolt mounts between the aluminum bumper carrier and frame. Mounts on the front of your MINI and can be used on the left or right side.To align the bumper distance to the hood and outer extremity of the front end. Some times two or more are needed per side.”
Makes sense now that I might only have one on the driver side.
Gets the bumper parts to align
correctly with the rest of the body.
You might have between 0 to 4 of
them depending on how straight or
aligned your frame is.
