Channel Swap made sound worse

Base R56 boost non hifi system. I replaced the fronts with MB Quartz 6 1/2 and the smaller speakers with good tweeters. I just replaced the rears with infinity 6x9s. So far so good. Big improvement.

Then I did the channel swap. It GREATLY diminished the bass in the rears and muddied them up a bit. The fronts seem to have MORE bass.

So, why are some people advocating the channel swap. Am I missing something? I'm switching back.

If I had any self-respect I would just delete this.

I was missing something. I didn't realize that the fader would now be reversed and that the rears, in fact, do now have more base.

The base from the front is diminished and the fronts are a bit muddier but that's okay

Actually it's no longer recommended. Just do a coding to "Hifi" and enjoy the result. Far better.

I agree. on my HiFi system, I perforemd the Connector 9331 speaker wires (channels) swap and then I thought the factory speakers/stereo sounded even worse, even when I played with fader to get better sound... I switched back to original wiring.

I have no idea what that is. Sorry.
I'm wondering if the poster of that msg means to change the vehicle code to state you ahve HiFi OR perhaps swap an option in NCS Expert... not sure WHY you'd do that tho...

I used NCS Expert in order to code a couple of settings (e.g. remotely opening/closing of windows and sunroof using the key fob's lock/unlock buttons). There is tons of information on the web on how to set up a working system on a laptop (I used a Windows 7 virtual guest system with no internet access) as well as lists of variables for individual ECUs which can be set with specific values in order to activate or set certain functions. Depending on your IT background, prepare for a steep learning curve and sweaty hands the very first time you tell NCS expert to actually write the changes you made to the ECU's firmware.

Like you, one of my main intentions was to remove the rear channel bass filter. However, the champ2 system installed in my MINI did not seem to respond to the change. If yours has the rad2 (or maybe "2rad"?) system you may have better luck. The variable to be changed there is (according to a user on a german MINI forum): VEHICLE_FILTERS. YMMV.

The channel swap MINIs this works on don't have a "coding to Hifi" option available.
