Airbag light, how to best start troubleshooting?

So the Airbag light is on in my '05 Cooper S Convertible, and someone told me that some wires could be cut under a seat. I looked under the passenger seat and didn't see anything damaged (there were several sets of wires), but didn't look under the driver seat. Also both seat heater buttons will turn green when you push it, but the light will turn off after a second or two. I'm wondering if those are related to the Airbag.

What are some things I should do to start troubleshooting?

Do a readout, because the light will be on for a reason off course. Without it you are just wild guessing

You can use several methods
1. You can get inpa to diag an reset airbag Light.
2. You can go to Amazon an order a c310 scanner to reset airbag.

I have an airbag light as well. I went to the dealership and they told me it was the drivers side door sensor that was bad. I bought a Schwaben scanner and it told me the same thing. I have seen a few replacement door sensors for sale, but have yet to find the motivation to pull the sensor to confirm the correct model.

My drivers seat heater started giving me problems with intermittent operation, but the airbag light existed long before the seat heater issue.

Maybe tomorrow if my wife doesn't tell me to do stuff for her, I will find some time to explore it a bit?
