Passenger AirBag disable

We just had a beautiful baby girl. So, I need to put a baby seat in my miniS for potential day care dropoffs and pickups. My issues are that I have a rear roll cage and a infant seat will not fit in the back. I will need to put the seat in the front. My Question is does anyone have an suggestions of how to disable the passenger airbag?

Air Bag Disable

Hi CooperRs

I just got an 09 MINI and I noticed that when I put a backpack full of stuff or a gallon of milk on the front seat the "PASS AIR BAG DISABLED" light goes on, and the fasten seat belt light comes on with a unstopable gong until you fasten the PASS seatbelt. So I'm Guessing that with all the computer control it is automatic.

Maybe try putting the car seat in and load it with some thing and start the MINI to see if it will disable.
Happy Motoring!

If you have an '05 or newer MINI, a weight sensor in the passenger seat automatically deactivates the airbag below a certain weight (I think about 40 lbs), and the Disabled light turns on. If you have an '04 or older MINI, you'll have to sign waivers and get your dealer to deactivate it. You could also disconnect the passenger side but the airbag warning light will be constantly on.

The car is older than 04. No worries on the Airbag light is has been on as long as I have owned the car. Thanks, Rs
