Crazy4Trains Has a New Toy

Brought home this 2013 Clubman S with 53K miles Friday. Previous owner leased it new then bought it at the end of the lease so it's essentially a one-owner car. Just got it insured so we haven't driven it since we trailered it home.

What kind of pain do I need to expect???

She sure does look good. If it where me i would change all of the fluids, plugs, coils, and filters. which is basically what i have done over the past year, i held off on the brake fluid a bit to long and we really cooked them the last time on the dragon. i suggest not bleeding the slave cylinder, but i can give tips on how to do it or what worked for me, it is a 2 person job.

I'd also add a walnut blast of the intake valves to the list.

Looks great! I have a 2014 with 86k.
I have not had any major issues with mine. Driving in the rain creates water in the spare tire compartment....but that is the only pain point I have had.

That sounds like you have a bad seal. My 09 does not have this issue. Mini's Slay the Sleeping Dragon was a wet one, and my boot was dry, what was left of hurricane delta hit us Saturday and Sunday.

When did the S model go from a supercharger to turbo? Are the supercharged engines reliable (for a mini)?

They swapped in 07 in hatches and I think 09 for convertibles. As for reliability, I just want to rebuild on and listen to in whine on the Dragon.

The supercharger models are all 1st gen cars. All Clubman models are 2nd gen, and were built with the turbo engines for the S models. There are some overlap in model years between 1st and 2nd gen cars, so its not really a single model year demarcation. The later supercharged cars are very reliable, and used model pricing reflects that popularity. Your Clubman being a later 2nd gen car, you have the better N18 build spec, and your Clubman should prove to be very reliable. Just make sure you keep up on the maintenance, and be proactive rather than reactive.
