Replaced GP3 Steering Wheel with JCW Alcantara Steering Wheel

This past weekend, I had my MINI dealer replace my 2021 MINI JCW GP steering wheel with a JCW Alcantara Steering wheel.

I think it looks better than the OEM GP steering wheel and should have been what the car was delivered with.

MINI Part Number 32-30-2-364-770 $864.56 List Price. Plus $150 to install.

Angry Top Marker

Man, that is expensive mod. But good thing is Top Marker is not metal, wont burn you during summer time.
I used black tape to cover them whenever driving during summer.

Hi mchiles,

I have to agree with you about the JCW Pro steering wheel. It should have been the standard wheel for the GP.

I had this wheel installed on my ‘19 F56 S and when I purchased my Paddy Hopkirk edition the dealership transferred it over as part of the sale

How well does an Alcantara wheel hold up to normal oils on your hands and the use??

It sure is a handsome mod !

Hi mountainhorse,

I haven’t noticed any issues with the Alcantara fabric and oils. I’ve had the wheel installed on two MINIs and owned it for a little over a year.

When cleaning the wheel I use AMMO SH@G fabric cleaner and after a few minutes it looks brand new again.

It’s really one good looking steering wheel!

Rich

Went from Alcantara to Chinese suede. Lol

Ran an Alcantara steering wheel on my RaceR50 for over 5 years. Was careful to have clean hands, but also cleaned every year with one drop of Dawn in a small bucket of warm water. Still looks like new. Sold that R50 and the girl loves the race steering wheel!

Wrapped my 2011 R56S with a suede custom wheel cover that I sewed on. Bought thru Amazon. Love the look and especially the feel! Before & after!

Nice! Do you still have the whereabouts to order the custom wheel cover? How long did it take to sew?

This kit came with everything. Took about 4-5 hours and some sore old fingers, but I was extremely happy with the results. Tip: make sure you get the spoke location and top stripe lined up. Found this YouTube video that helped.

Steering wheel was not on my list, but daaaang would be nice to have the alcantara flatbottom. 4-5 hours might be worth approx $450. Ebay seller has some very nice wheels and they come with the buttons which mine is in need of replacement...So really to justify I could pay $450 to replace the buttons and it comes with a free steering wheel lol.
