New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve
I suppose it's pretty late to be asking, but I was curious about whether anyone would be interested in some sort of get-together on New Year's Eve? Maybe we could get a few people together for dinner or something, somewhere outside of Denver, where I imagine there will be throngs of people.
hmmm... some ideas... let's see... ;)
1) Dinner in Estes Park at the Black Canyon Inn, followed by a midnight drive into Rocky Mountain National Park.
2) Dinner at the Boulder ChopHouse & Brewery (http://www.chophouse.com) -- I've never been there, but it looks good! Maybe followed by a movie afterward or something like that ...
3) An evening drive up Mt. Evans, followed by dinner & drinks at the Buffalo Burger place in Idaho Springs.
... these are just a few thoughts. Someone else might have better ideas, though, since I'm still new to CO and don't know what all might be going on. :-)
Hopefully we can get a few people together; I think it would make for a fun night!

if more people have all or part of the day off..
then of course that would be even more conducive to a nice drive in the afternoon, before the sun sets.
Since my husband and I are self-employed, then I say we can take a few hours off also!

OK Beth, it is decided
Drive up thru Evergreen, up past Mt. Evans (road all the way is closed) to Idaho Springs for dinner.
Please post here:
Start location and time
Your phone for questions
Planned route
Location for dinner
You can find Jefferson Cty maps online to check directions, but it is easy to drive up to Evergreen, then right and up and around until you get to Idaho Springs.
As soon as we see your post then we will send that out to members, too.
Thanks....

Ok, here are the details
We'll meet at the Conoco station at the Morrison Rd exit directly off 470, and be ready to leave at 4:30. There is a dirt parking lot across the road that we can meet in.
Route:
We'll take SR 8 into Morrison to SR 74. SR74 will take us through Kittredge and into Evergreen. Then turn left (west) onto SR103, and we'll take that to Echo Lake for a picture stop (if there's any light.) Then we'll continue on SR 103 to Idaho Springs.
Dinner is at the Buffalo Restaurant in Idaho Springs (1617 Miner St (303) 567-2729, and we should arrive there sometime around 6:00, and hang out till whenever.
Classic Minis and New MINIs are all welcome, and if anyone is unable to make the 4:30 drive time, they can still feel free to meet us at the Buffalo Restaurant after they're done with work. (We'll call later today to ensure that they're open tomorrow night, but we think it should be fine. If not, we'll just eat somewhere else.)
Contact: Mini@AllBrand.nu, 970-667-9269. Cell phone: 970-214-9266.
Bring an FRS radio if you have one!

Sounds like a blast but I hold true to my New Years plan "Play it safe and stay off the roads", to many people drinking and drivin crazy out there on New Years. So play it safe guys and have a great drive!
Note about the NYE drive & dinner...
Since we came up with this idea at such a late date, I know a lot of you already have plans. So if you want to come, please let us know, so that we know about how many people to expect (or whether anyone at all is able to go
). Feel free to call, email, or post a message here to let us know if you'll be there.
Thanks!!
