Audio volume cutting out

Hi! New poster here

I have a 2015 cooper S hatch, with base audio. The audio quality sounds good, but the volume cuts out at higher volume, doesnt matter if im using Aux or Bluetooth. It plays loudly for a few seconds and then lowers the volume to about half, and comes back after a few seconds. It seems more prevalent when playing a bassy song. Its extremely annoying.

have any of you guys seen this before? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like a short somewhere. I had a similar issue with 1985 Corvette. The dealership kept rebuilding the radio head but it turned out to be a door speaker amp. Don't know how the mini system is designed, but it sure sounds like what I was experiencing with my Corvette.

Obviously you don't want to live with this issue. I'd suggest you go to an after-market car stereo shop and pick their brain on the possible cause. Dong installs and troubleshooting, they will probably be able to shed some light on the issue. Once it's figured out you can decide to have Mini fix the stock system's issue (or the aftermarket shop may do repairs) or perhaps go with a better aftermarket stereo. You may find that for a few bucks more, you can get a much better system w/ an aftermarket unit depending on what Mini will charge you for a repair (parts and labor)..

Good luck.
