R56 Looking for the pre-wiring for CD changer
Looking for the pre-wiring for CD changer
Hi all,
I'm a new owner of a 2007 R56 S, and I have plans for modding the car to capture steering wheel multimedia buttons being pressed and redirect them to a Raspberry Pi to control music playback. (Sadly, the car has aux but no usb).
I can't find the connectors for the CD changer on either side of the boot, I removed all side upholstery and all I'm seeing is a bundle of cables with no connectors at all, and none seem to match the IBUS descriptions I found in BMW/Mini forums.
VIN check reports the pre-wiring to be there (S694A Provisions for BMW 6CD changer), but I can't find it. Does anyone know what should I expect? Is it just cables I should splice manually, or should I dig around for cables ending with connectors?
All I need is the three wire power cable (12V, GND, IBUS), so if there's another place with relatively easy access let me know. I would like to avoid removing the dashboard if possible.
Thanks in advance.

The space behind the left hand side luggage compartment wheel arch cover is for the stock amplifier (depending on configuration), the corresponding space to the right for the DAB radio tuner (not US-models).
