Blown diff, thinking of 6 speed swap

So a couple months ago I blew the transmission in my 06 r50 cooper which was my baby for the longest time. I have since
bought a 2011 335i bmw but have held onto the mini until I could fix it. I just put it up today to look and see how bad the damage was and it’s not looking good. Looks like the diff blew a hole through the bell housing and will need a full transmission swap. Based on the cost of a r50 Getrag I’m thinking of going a 6 speed swap w/ a LSD but not sure what it would entail. Has anyone one done this? Is it possible. Any help would be appreciated.

That's some serious carnage there

Give a guy some warning next time. So what happened to cause the catastrophic failure?

I got back from a week trip to Dallas in February and the car sat in the cold all week not sure if that had anything to do with it but drove about 5 miles and had the wheel turned all the way to the left turning around in a parking lot and when I let the clutch out it blew up and dumped all the trans fluid. I’m not sure if the transmission fluid was ever changed at the shop. I didn’t think it needed changed. Dumb kid Learning from his mistakes lol

WOW that is an impressive failure. I've seen plenty of R50 diffs fail but that one takes the cake.

For sure going to the 6spd is a great option, but you really need to find a donor car and take all the parts from it. We have done this conversion more than anyone else in the US and you need everything trans, axles, lines, cables, mounts and so on.
Plus a new clutch kit

We are happy to help with anything we can, but don't have a complete kit available as we just did a 6spd swap last week on an R50

It's an involved swap, but likely do-able without a full engine out.
