3D printed heat shield nut

Think it will work? Real ones seem to sell for more than $1, flattened bottle caps might work, but so might this. How hot does it get down there?

Ran my own test

With a torch next to the plastic nut. It got hot, started to flame. So, not worth a risk of a fire underneath. I’ll either try to find affordable ones, or experiment with flattened beer bottle caps. No shortage here.

You could probably do PEEK if your printer can handle it but otherwise... Metal

Look up the Youtube videos on doing "lost PLA" sand casting.

Thanks

For all the suggestions and sources. Right now, I’m using baby food jar caps, one secured with some kind of spacer I found, the others to be held by speednuts. I don’t trust the studs not to come off with a regular nut.
