JCW Need some guidance - driving lights
Need some guidance - driving lights
Have a new-to-me '15 JCW 3 door coupe - pretty well equipped except for front driving lights. It has the rear fogs which are great but I would like to add some front ones that fit in the space provided for them as well as utilize the switch location on the dash.
Headlights are LED so I assume driving lights should be too. Correct?
Please make recommendations for sourcing these - I am looking for non OEM, if possible. Appreciate your whatever you have for advice..

If you have the front fog switch, you have (or had) the front fog lights.
I believe oem driving lights use a separate switch & are not part of the bulb-check so no coding is needed.
It is simplest to wire non-oem driving lights without a switch - just trigger the relay from the high-beam wiring & they'll come on with the high beams.

Key here is the JCW bit. No driving lights or front fogs. A front switch blank will be on the lower dash to the left of the steering column. Also no easy mount spot for thelights.
Me - wouldnt fill the functional drivers side space with a fog light assembly a la cooper s. . You'll block off the additional oil cooler.
cleanest option likely the OEM rally driving lights or thei atermarket equlvalent. . Bolt on the corner of your grill. Used to have halogen and LED options. Chrome or black housings.
Depends on why you want them. Clarity in fog/mist. To light up dark country roads. to look funky.

Thank you both for the responses. I have one active switch (for rear fogs) and one dummy switch on the lower left section of the dash. I was under the impression that the dummy switch was there should I want to add OEM front fog / driving lights. I did not know they were unavailable for the JCW version.
I live in the mountains of Western, NC and except for the highways, it's hard to find any straight or flat roads - the extra lights would be for visibility in the mountains at night. I am not a fan of the big rally style lights but prefer small but bright LED's similar to those made by Clearwater or Rigid for motorcycles.
I'll wait a bit to see if anyone else comes up with an idea before I go the Clearwater / Rigid route.
Be safe.

I ordered the driving lights with my new 2015 JCW.....dealer installed and they are fine but for the money I question the practicality! I have the covers on must of the time. The MINI install calls for a button on the right side of the steering column.
Only problem I had is the dealer forgot to properly reinstall the temperature sensor....it just lays in the opening....not a real issue but I will mention to dealer at some point....I avoid the dealer as much as possible!
Cost was just under $1,700! Yikes! I still like having extra lights when needed but the led’s are really enough in most situations.

Wow - that's quite a steep price. I can get something for considerably less that are not only bright but adjustable from the other sources I mentioned. Wiring will not be too difficult but mounting and appearance with the look and lines of the car might.
I'll continue the search.

I had regular 55w halogen lights for the last 12 years on my custom(removable for track) light bar. They had 4 spots and showed the slight shake in the bar, the leds bathed the whole front with even light, with no shake. (Guessing similar to those skinny Jeep led light bars)
Those are a lot of lights! I am looking for the pair that are OEM. My car is just like yours (same color JCW) - are you OEM's available now. Are there any aftermarket lights that can fit in those spaces?
