2005 S Starting issues. No codes shown.

2005 Cooper S and no clue where to start. Sometimes the car will not start. When it does not start, the lights come on, door chimes, everything is working. When I turn the key, fuel pump primes but there is no crank at all. Nothing. No code to pull. I wait and wait. All of a sudden, i try again and it starts right up, zero issue. 5000 miles ago, it did this and we were advised to replace the EWS (which we did). What else could be causing this? It has not done this since the EWS was replaced almost exactly 5000 miles ago. The only consistency is it is now June (hot) and it was replaced in a July (hot). Could heat have something to do with it? Battery? Clutch sensor?? Help please. Right now I am throwing money with no code giving me or the shop any direction.

Thanks!

What type of scanner are you using to look at codes? Maybe you need something more Mini specific , like a Schwaben scan tool, you would be able to test components with that type of scanner.

The shop can only scan it it comes in not starting. Last time it showed a code of no power through fuse 5. Now the car is working again, so no code.

you will need a higher end scanner to look at the data from the ews and other components
