Am sorry I need a moment........., I just love these cars and I hope you all do to!!!! Thank you and keep on motoring !!!p.s. Do you have any stories about why you love/like the new MINIs!??

I fell in love over a year ago when I sat in the first MCS I had been up close to. It was at one of my local dealers. The interior was unlike any car I had been in. All those shiny toggle switches and that great manual shifter. I had learned to drive on a manual but had not driven one in a while. I missed it.

We took it for a test drive. The roads were slightly slick after a recent rain and as I hauled around the first turn (wheels skidding...MA looking slightly nervous) my MA took the opportunity to point out that the DSC was operating. The car was pleasently quick and the clutch throw was short and alowed for speedy gear changes. I popped from one gear to the next with buttery smooth grace and felt like I had been driving this car all along.

At that time, the car turned out to be just a bit more expensive than I could comfortably afford (and I wasn't willing to compromise). I knew that in a relatively short time I would be able to return knowing I could get the car I wanted.

Several months ago I took my first spin in a hyperblue, chrome line int. MCSC. The wonderfully gutteral and aggressive exhaust sound took me off guard. The new gear ratios made for a quicker start and spirited toss around the neighborhood. My MA at the time spouted off somewhat contrived compliments ("finally someone who knows how to take that turn..") but I didn't mind. The warm day with the sun decending from its apex, catching the chrome ring around the tach and speedo with a satisfying glint as though it was playing there just for us made me yearn to drive that car straight home and park it infront of my door. MINE!!! Hands off.

After much thought and number crunching, I'm now waiting....and waiting...and waiting. The LSD makes the wait longer, but I know it will be worth it. Because the longer I wait, the closer spring gets and the closer I get to daily top down motoring.

Is not necessery attachment It just the way it makes you feel, when you drive it . Belive me when I say that this car feels awesome . You will love the handling. I had the opportunity of driving an original 68 and they do handle the same. Even the interior in the new MINI closely matches the original:smile: . It is just a work of art........ !! There I go again!

I have no real attachment to a specific car, like folks who already have theirs tucked away in the garage. Some of the things people write about here really demonstrates devotion that is above and beyond.
Right now I'm devoted to the feeling of cruisin' around on a warm summer evening in a convertable. If you haven't done that, let me tell you, it's really somethin'. And the fact that that convertable is a fantasic little machine to boot, I expect will elevate the experience.

That's what I'm waiting for....

(and then in three years when the warranty is up, I'm lookin' forward to modifying it into a 240bhp screamin' piece of motorin' heaven.)

It was a dark and stormy night... I was at my office late, cleaning out some files my dead partner Marley had never gotten to finish off, when there was a knock on the door. "It's open," I claimed, and in walked the the most gorgeous dame I'd ever laid eyes on.

It's more than two years now since our first tumble and the excitement hasn't waned a bit. You never know when a slug with your name on it comes looking for a home, so you get the most out of each day. And when you've breathed your last, you can say, "I have motored."

Dogspeed.

Well I am definitely attached to my Cooper, too. I drive about 15 miles to and from work every day...some of the nicest twisty roads in town and a stretch on some misty country back roads. Motoring literally gets me out of bed in the morning (aside from my attachment to a pay check) and has made every motoring moment an eagerly anticipated adventure and pleasure. From the car itself (fantastic), to the assorted hobbies attached to MINI ownership (collecting, modding, detailing), to the awesome MINI-owners community, it's rare that a car is capable of adding so much enjoyment to one's life, imo.

I think the Cooper owners are more sentimental. We savor the motoring experience more than the all out mod inducing fervor that sweeps over most MCS owners.

I couldn't be happier with my Cooper. Ok, maybe I could with some progressive springs, but otherwise, I got the sound (with my intake), the speed (by driving in 3rd gear at 5,000 rpm on the freeway), and the absolute joy in blowing past all the HUGE cars on the road!

By the way, if you are really attached to your car, come join us one weekend in our free MINI detailing clinics held at my house near Culver City! We had 11 MINI's last weekend, and more than half were Coopers! LOL

We love our 02' MCS so much (I rarely got to drive it), that I had to order one of my own.... So now I have the pleasure of driving an 05' MCSC and we love being a 2 MINI family....

Chow!
