2020 JCW Hardtop

Prior owner... several times. About to likely make a deal on a 2020 JCW hardtop.

anything important to know? I can’t seem to find much on them relative to the New CM.

This one is the iconic version black with drivers assitance, pretty close to fully optioned in terms of features. No DDC I believe, but I’m fine with that.

Also welcome any thoughts on any deals, etc.

We discuss the current market here
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...e-deal-22.html

As a recent buyer during the pandemic of a JCW Clubman, here's my advice:
  • Do you homework. Survey you local and near local dealers (say 6-8 hour drive) to see what comparable MINIs they have. Contact them and get a good gauge of what fair market value is. In the case of the 2020 JCW Clubman on the West Coast, fair market value was MSRP -$3000 to MSRP -$5100.
  • Check MINIUSA for current offers https://www.miniusa.com/tools/shoppi...rtible/2020///
  • Show decisive intent to purchase. Say I'm willing to write you a check for a down payment today if we can agree on price. Show them your checkbook.
  • Be armed with that knowledge and be ready to walk out. If you don't get a great deal Walk Out! Don't accept $1000 or $2000 off MSRP. Remember to ask if the dealer offer includes the $1000 or $1500 off from MINIUSA.
  • Understand what invoice pricing is. Then understand that MINIUSA has manufacturer incentives. So you should get a deal under invoice. No doubt about it.
  • Be ready to finance through MINIUSA. They have a current deal to credit your account $330/month for the first three months. That's nearly $1000 off, just for financing through MINIUSA. If you were financing anyway that's $1000 off. If you were going to pay cash, you still come out ahead by financing through MINIUSA and then paying off the loan early.

In short, don't accept a deal over invoice. Definitely understand the incentives through MINIUSA.

In my case, my dealer originally offered $2000 off MSRP. But they were including $1000 from MINI. So the dealership was actually only offering $1000 of MSRP. I had custom ordered that car. I walked out and told them they could keep the car. The next day they called back. When we were done talking I was $1000 under invoice (on a brand new custom ordered 2020 300 HP JCW Clubman).

Hope that helps!
