Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
I think my HPFP is going bad. was replaced in 2015 under the extended warranty. but thats over now for my 07. the new mini pumps are like $600 now, they use to cost $200. theres alot of no name cheap $100 pumps on ebay that are new, made in china I think. but I see mini oem pumps for about $100 that are remanufactured. I'm thinking this would be the best route to go without spending hundreds on a new one?
Yes, while back they raised the price and that's the best cost we have on those OES ons. I wish it was back to the old warranty cost, but these HPFP have been a price roller coaster from MINI and PSA,
I love ECS, but I wouldn't call $600-1100 'lower cost'
LOL
I don't know where or when you were getting them for $200, but I never paid less than $800 for an OEM one. And that was from a MINI dealer selling them on ebay.
The HPFP cost was around $200 right up until the warranty period for them had passed. After that, the cost shot straight up to $1000 or more. A clear case of price gouging but that's BMW for you. Another example I can attest to is the spark plugs. A quote I received from MINI yesterday indicated they want to charge me $249.95 to replace my spark plugs. I think we all know what spark plugs cost as well as how little labor is involved in changing them. Another example of price gouging...$2000 to replace my front struts. The labor here is substantially more than spark plugs but on a $200 part, $1800 for the labor is insane. With what MINI charges for service, I could charge half and still make enough profit to live on.
Anyways, back on topic, I replaced my HPFP chasing an issue that turned out to be an electrical issue. I later learned from the previous owner that he had already replaced the same pump prior to my purchase. So, I still have my working HPFP that I am willing to part with. Let me know if you're interested.
I remember seeing them on ECS for $280. Then they shot up to about $1,100 a couple of years ago. I think they are trying to recoup all the money they lost on warranty work replacing them.

If you can DIY replace, might be a good idea to try the branded ebay HPFP ~$300-$400.
According to ebay listing the OSIAS has 3 years warranty
I saw a thread here about rebuilding them, so I'm assuming thats what was done to it. in the pics it looks pretty beat up. kinda taking a gamble, I trust the chinese made ones less though.
Gabe3: Re-manufactured units are only as good as the person doing the work, the quality of the initial product and subsequent quality control standards of the company. It sounds like you willing to take the risk. Good luck and let us know how it works. I have never had much luck unless it was from a well known and respected company.

found out a little more from the seller, the guy he got it from got it from a government auction. oh boy. he has alot of positive feedback and sells this kind of stuff, but still. I'm wondering if theres a way I could clean it before installing? planning to put it in tomorrow. what should I watch out for so I dont do any damage like hydrolocking in case it malfunctions?
I replaced my HPFP this year. I was not interested in an eBay knockoff, or a rebuilt pump, or paying $600+ for a pump. That's a lot to ask. After much research, I found this new OEM pump overseas (for me) at NeoBros Parts: https://www.neobrothers.co.uk/car-pa...14-13517588879.
This price has gone up about 25 euro since I bought it, but still a great deal. I spoke with their parts department before and after the purchase. They assured me this is the same as the original pump (it's stamped), and they will warranty it for a year. Bonus: They only sell Saab and MINI parts - they are very knowledgeable, and were able to give me a lot of good advice, repair-wise.
Generally, I buy my parts from ECS Tuning and FCP Euro. I've also mentioned RMEuropean before, which is almost in my neighborhood. But, in this case, casting my net a little farther really paid dividends. I'm very happy with the purchase. Hopefully, the price will stay stable enough in the future to make it worthwhile for us DIYers to continue purchasing.
Good luck, everyone!
