Has anyone put a aftermarket armrest in their MINI? If so what kind did you get and from where?

I have an aftermarket armrest that I got from Moss Mini. It's the one that the top slides forward and has some storage space underneath. It also has the intergrated cup holder inside and is mounted w/3 screws in the rear cupholder. I paid about $180 for mine a year ago but I think they have come down since to around $150 or maybe less.

I have been very pleased with it as it does what I needed for it to do, let me rest my arm. It looks very good and the grey leather top matches the panther grey color in my seats very well. I got the silver base. The fit is a bit tight because of the lumbar adjusters on the insides of the seats and the levers for reclining the seats are a little hard to get to now. With this armrest, you do "loose" your rear cupholder as far as holding cups (which I never used it for anyway) but it is still useful to hold other things. I use mine to hold my cell phone for example. It was very simple to install, took me like 15-20 minutes and I am not mechanically inclined.

Anyway, if you want an armrest, I can recommend this one but just be aware of some of the issues listed above. I think it looks better than the one offered by Mini and is much less expensive.

Thanks Eric. It sounds like you have got the one I have been looking at. Thanks again for the reply.

Welcome to M2C2. From seeing your location in L.A. you could attend our events in Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte.

I started with the armrest that Eric has. I liked it and it looked great. I also liked the storage and the height of it. My only dislikes were it was difficult to reach the lumbar support and mine kepted coming loose. I probably could have fixed it using loc-tight on the screws that went into the cup holder. I see that Moss Motors has it on a closeout sale.

I now have the mini-fini armrest that MINI sells. I like it, it looks good is very stable and moves out of the way easily. It does sit higher and further out and does not have any storage. It is also expensive and requires more install time.

I hope that helps you with your question.

George

Thanks for the info and the invite George. The mini-fini is out of my price range but I do like how it looks. I try to check out the events listed but we are very busy with the kids who are about grown. But I will keep checking and maybe one our silver Mini will show up.

I have the "elbow rest" type, which is just an oval that you put your elbow on. I really like it; no screws or drilling required, unobtrusive, doesn't block the rear cup holder. I really like it because it's small and simple. Still makes the lumbar support hard to get to, though. Cheapest of the lot, too.

I've just installed the Official MINI armrest that I received in a group buy from Germany. Has plenty of storage and the fit and finish match the interior perfectly. This is supposed to be available next year here in the states. The install is very easy and it is strong! I think they will cost about $200 when they get here.
