Turn-By-Turn Directions
Turn-By-Turn Directions
Greetings!
I recently purchased a 2011 Cooper S convertible, and I understand that I cannot stream music from my iPhone 8 via Bluetooth. I’m content to use the aux input to connect my phone to the audio system; however, I was surprised to discover that I could not use turn-by-turn navigation. I thought I would be able to open Google Maps, get directions, and then listen to music as normal, with Google Maps interrupting whenever a turn was coming up. However, all I hear is the music with brief pauses, which is when I should be getting directions (I assume).
Am I doing something wrong?

That sounds like an issue with your phone, not the car. If you are using the aux input all the car is doing is faithfully amplifying whatever audio your phone outputs from the headphone jack. I am not 100% sure but the phone could have a lower volume level for the navigation directions than the music.
Unless by "aux input" you mean you are connecting your phone via USB. In that case the car is streaming and controlling the audio from the phone with your phone acting like a hard drive. That could be the issue as the nav audio is coming from a separate app and the car may not be able to pass that through.
Not sure if that helps but some thoughts.
