How do I format a flash drive on my Mac so it will play in my car?
I tried Disc Utility on the Mac and I can't see how to format the USB drive to FAT32 (which I think I have to do to get it to play). It was MS DOS FAT16 and I dragged albums to it and they show up on the Mini but I get "unable to play". HELP!
Needs to be FAT32. Hook up with a friend that has a MS based computer.. been there, done that.
One more tip, create a folder called music. Put all your files there, don't create sub-folders. That way when you select random, ALL the files will play. When you first insert the drive, it will be read and the meta data will be stored in the stereo. I think it can do this for up to 5 drives.

A few years ago we did a cross country trip in our mini. I had my laptop with me, so I had a lot of time to play with this. At first I created a separate folder for each album, that's when I discovered the random feature would only work for the files I had in that folder. Hope I'm making sense here..
BTW, what part of AZ are you located?

LOL, call it anything you want. What you don't want to do is put all your files in the root directory, as FAT32 has a file limit of 255 in the root directory. The Mini manual isn't much help with this.

Minnie.the.Moocher... Were you able to load a USB-memory stick with songs from your Mac?
Is there a practical limit to the size of mem stick you can use... I'd like to put my entire library of MP3's 512GB stick (there's 387GB MP3's on my laptop)

I have a 128 gb stick in now but it won't read all the files. 64gb works fine. 387gb, please let me know if you get that to work, which is doubtful. I mostly just use my phone now with FLAC files and a bluetooth connection to the DSP I use.
