I love my 2019 F56, with two exceptions, the ridiculous auto wipers in lieu of standard intermittent wipers, and the lack of Apple CarPlay in my particular model. My previous vehicle had a CarPlay and I thought I wouldn’t miss it much with the MINI, however my wife’s vehicle has it and I definitely miss it.

Hi, I’ve been trying to get Carplay for my car (2019 F55 LCI), but have been getting mixed response. Some people said that it is possible just that I need original FSC codes. Some said not possible because I don’t have navigation. I’ve checked my HU CAFD as above. Appreciate if I can get confirmation which route that I can take to have Carplay, FSC activation or mirrorlink. Tqvm

Retrofitting Apple CarPlay is something I researched pretty extensively prior to taking delivery of my 2017 F57 last Friday.

Completely agree w/OP -- CarPlay is hard to NOT have once you've experienced it and for me it's a must-have!

So with some help I have succefully installed carplay in my 2016 JCW with the older HU. There was some warning of restarts but i have not had any so far. Fingers crossed.

 

How did this go? What year/model did you purchase it for?

I took at look at this page and even though the supported listing shows F56 (doesn't show year(s)), when I plug in my VIN on the Bimmer Tech site, it says that it's not compatible with my 2019 F56.

 

What is the empty blue connector on the/this head unit useful for?. What can you connect to it?.

@BIMMER-REMOTE.com , same question for my 2017 MCS (Oct 2016 production). I am told I have the ENTRYNAV head unit, my screen is the 6.5, no navigation functionality installed in the vehicle at present.
