The Story

Its time for me to sell the Mini. I haven’t had the car for very long (purchased 10/20/18, 121,6xx miles), but I bought it with a very specific goal in mind, and the car has served me well. Initially purchased with intentions of making it a “work car” that I could load my tools into (general handyman work when I'm home from my real job), and then use the roof rack to haul a ladder, some wood, etc. Not the normal use for the Mini, I know, however it has served me VERY well and always impresses others! I had intentions of keeping it as a run around car (so my M3 can stay garage queen status), however, the reality is that its just a little too small for my wife to feel comfortable with putting our kids in it. That being said, I’m on the hunt for a wagon to replace the Mini.

The Car

VIN last 7 (for decoding): TL19835

2006 Mini Cooper S

6 speed manual

British Racing Green Metallic

English Panther Schwarz Leather

Chrono Package

Chome Package

Light Package (Xenon lights, front fog lights, rear fog light)

No sunroof

Non-heated manual seats

Manual climate control

The GOOD

**Maintenance**

-Refurbished cylinder head

--New head gasket set/head bolts

--New valve cover gasket

--New intake/exhaust manifold gaskets

--New NGK spark plugs

--New Timing chain tensioner

--New serpentine belt

--New belt tensioner dampener

--New water pump/thermostat

--Coolant flush

--New timing chain tensioner

--oil/filter change (Mobil 1 0W-40)

-New plug wires

-New axles

-New front wheel bearing assemblies

-New front upper strut mounts

-New front lower control arm bushings (Powerflex)

-New front inner/outer ball joints (Lemforder)

-New oil pan gasket (another oil change at this point, about 300 miles ago)

-New crank position sensor o-ring

-New oil pressure switch

-New brakes

--Brembo rotors

--Posi Quiet Semi Metallic pads

--New sensors/clips/etc.

--Fluid flush

-New tires- Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 (205/40-17)

-AC compressor clutch coil replaced (AC blows COLD!)

-New hood & hatch struts

-New wipers front/rear

**Upgrades**

-OEM Roof Rack (installed by me, tested MANY times, works perfectly)

-Recovered headliner with matching green alcantara like material (see pic)

-FULLY tinted- Llumar FormulaOne Pinnacle 15% windows, Llumar AirBlue 80 on windshield

-Cravenspeed dipstick

-OEM outdoor car cover (included with sale)

The BAD

-The body is not perfect. The lower front lip is creased from parking curbs (previous owner), and there are a few ripples in the roof.

-The paint is failing as well. Overall the car looks good and has a nice shine, but it must’ve been a cheap/poorly applied respray because in the year I’ve had the car, it has started peeling. A few areas on the hood, one spot on the passenger quarter panel, and a few small spots on the rear bumper.

-The low speed fan resistor has failed. Fan works fine for normal use, but when AC is on, fan is on high all the time

-The AC compressor makes some noise when running at higher revs, like a dull humming noise. Still works just fine.

I understand the car is not perfect, however, given the list of maintenance, I can promise the car runs well and is plenty fun to drive! I have put just about 4K miles on it since I bought it, so all of the maintenance items are VERY recent. The car needs to be cleaned up and a few small things sorted, but even still, I promise it to be a very reliable and fairly well sorted car. It is ready for someone that wants to put the finishing touches on it!

I’m asking $4000 for the car considering the work that’s been done. I am a completely open book and will provide any more info/pics/videos as requested for out of town buyers. I have bought and sold many vehicles either sight unseen or from a distance and can work with you on that if needed.

Looking forward to passing this one on to the next owner!

Just dug up invoice for head gasket job, there were a few other things to add (water pump, thermostat, timing chain tensioner) that I forgot about.

My first thought was the LOL I'd have when you drove up as a handyman with a MINI and a ladder on top. Probably after the holiday hangover people will get interested in buying. A sub $5K car always draws interest.

Good luck with transaction!

Yes, most people that mentioned it would always inquire as to my interesting choice for a "work vehicle". That being said, it has been VERY useful in that regard. The Mini is an incredibly versatile car for how small it is!

Custom Closets anyone??

Checked off the front strut mounts. Replaced them both today, no more squeaks on turns, front end is perfectly tight, not a single creak or clunk.

Car is ready to go, bring all offers, hoping to move it before the end of the month.

If you're genuinely interested I'd be willing to work with it. I've bought and sold cars long distance/sight unseen etc... It's an easy process. FaceTime, videos, etc make this all very easy now. Let me know.

BUMP!

Please PM or reply with any/all offers. I officially have 4 cars in the driveway now, my marriage will not survive if I don't sell this car.
