I'm wondering about the four bolts on the plate that connects the lower engine mount to the engine. The photo below is from p. 110-24 of the Bentley manual - I've put red arrows pointing at three of the bolts. (The fourth one is kind of out of sight.) They have 13mm heads on them, so the bolts are - what? - maybe 8mm? The table on p. 110-27 says: "lower engine vibration damper to oil pan - 100 Nm (74 ft-lb)"
Wow - this seems like a lot of torque for a bolt this small. Am I looking at the wrong item in the table? Or is that the right spec?
I've tightened them to "damn tight" but I don't really trust my calibration these days.
Yep, you're right. The picture on this page (about halfway down the page) shows the same bolts I'm asking about, and following the link to 11 12 19AZ shows the torque at 45 Nm. Weird.
So I guess I'll go with something between 38 Nm and 45 Nm.
