Thermostat Housing Leak

Hi all and happy holidays!

So a month ago I took my 2013 Cooper S for an oil change and in the process they accidentally broke the hose coming out of the coolant reservoir, which they then replaced at no cost.

Fast forward now and my Thermostat Housing is leaking and causing my car to overheat.

I am wondering if the Thermostat Housing leak could be the result of a botched job while replacing the coolant reservoir hose.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Cheers!

Anything is possible. can you confirm where the leak is coming from? could they have forgotten to clamp the hose?

Might have been a botch job or the gasket was turned and not seated, bolts worked loose? I would get a closer look at it. Use you cell phone camera and rear down under and see what it is.

Good luck getting them to admit to anything after a month in a 6 year old car known for coolant leaks...

Fluids flow downhill. Even a small leak up at the expansion tank fitting could appear as a thermostat housing leak. Check closely. Our cars have very little slack in the hose connected to the bottom of the expansion tank which makes moving the tank for access to the oil filter a very precarious exercise. On my car I change the oil filter totally by feel. It's not fun, but necessary.
