I am pretty sure that the answer is no. I have checked the options (with the VIN decoders) and its not listed.

However, after I lock my MINI and start to walk away, the top half of the center ring will start to slowly pulse, on and off, in red. What I think an Apple Fan would call "breathing".

If its not to indicate an alarm is armed, what does it mean?

Either I never noticed it before, or my recent playing around with Bimmer unintentionally set it 'on'.

 

Yeah, that's the heartbeat function that you can turn on/off in iDrive. The alarm indicator light is attached to the bottom of the interior rearview mirror, and it makes a distinct beep upon locking and double beep upon unlocking.

 

I have no idea if mine does. Pretty sure it does not. But what's interesting is that if I unlock, it makes a low beep that I don't always notice. Locking it is 100% always silent. Not sure why I'm able to hear a beep or tone when unlocking but not locking, which is weird to me.
