R56 Help with bolt length for OEM Steelies
Help with bolt length for OEM Steelies
Need some help !
I have a 2013 Mini Cooper Baker Street - all stock with the 16” alloys.
I also have 16” OEM mini steelie winter wheels that Mount up perfectly however the OEM bolts seem too long and bottom out (I only tried one rear wheel).
They appear to be about -4-5 mm too long.
Upon calling the dealer, they mentioned the part number for the OEM Steelies were for an R52 but should work.
Im pretty sure someone on here has seen this issue.
How is was it resolved?
Ill see if if I can find inexpensive aftermarket shorter bolts.
Look forward to your replies!

I did use the OEM bolts and they bottomed out.
I understand the steel wheels are “thinner” even thought they are stamped with some contours.
Thank you for your response. Looks like “cockpit” error on my part. Although the wheels are from the small bolt early mini (12mm) these wheels work with my OEM 14mm bolts - length is fine.
I compared how much the bolts protruded past the mating disk surface and it was the same.
I figured out that you need to take your time hand threading the bolts in or you risk cross threading with these early wheels. As stated, although the 14mm bolts go through, you have to me more precise with the alignment or you will cross thread. I believe the later model Steelies have slightly larger bolt holes so alignment doesn’t need to be as precise.
Thanks everyone.
