Restoring a 2005 R53 MCS

Hello all,

I'm a subaru guy but have owned my R53 for about 2 years now and have had a lot of ease with finding new hardware and such for my GC8 impreza using subarus website. However I can't say the same for MINI. I'm in the process of tearing into the car replacing whatever is corroded or broken (I've found some horrible things thus far). There is quite a lot of bolts that are rusted to hell. The TMAP sensor bracket itself is rusted and I can't seem to find a new one anywhere. Where can I go to buy new hardware and such? I've tried general google searches as well as WMW and detroit tuned but no luck. Mini's website hasn't been much help either. I'm a bit OCD with this car and would like to replace as much rusty crusty crap as possible before buttoning it up.

Thanks

I have not however that looks like a goldmine of used parts, thanks for the link! I'm hoping to find new hardware though. Shiny new fasteners and nuts and bolts. Also the plastic subframe caps that the crash tubes slide over.

Go to realoem.com and figure out the part number, then either google it or you can find a lot of the nuts and bolts at ECStuning.

THANK YOU! That's a goldmine of info exactly what I needed. I've heard a lot of drama about ECS Tuning. Is that still a reputable place to purchase parts?

I've never had issues with them really (other than a bunch of black interior trim parts are backordered but they called me to tell me and give me regular updates).

Way Motor Works has always been solid for me. Shipping is all the way across the country for me so it's not super quick.
Pelican Parts has a big selection.

I've used ECS as well as most of the other known MINI vendors. I've also observed the "drama" about vendors.

In my observation over the last year, but doing a LOT of forum-reading to get up to speed on this car, the drama seems to stem from a few folks, and doesn't seem to be vendor-related. My $.02, but I haven't had any issues yet with any of the companies I've dealt with.

Sorry we don't list every nut and bolt on our website, but we can get them all new for you. Or better if you want we have a complete assortment of used nuts and bolts from MINIs we have parted out we can get you at a very affordable price. Just use the contact us form on our website to request what you need.

Thank you for the help everyone, I feel very welcome. My other question has two parts. The radiator support in my R53 has seen better days and I would like to replace it with new. I see listings for base model supports at a good price. Is there a difference between a non S and S radiator support? And, one of the shims was missing between the support and frame, is that a necessary part? Thanks!

For stuff like that I'd also check out rockauto.
