R50/53 timing an R53
timing an R53
Hello
I have searched the FAQ and sticky threads but no info.
From what i have gathered searching different threads when using the timing tool to lock the cam so the timing there is correct, the pistons should all be at mid level (2 positions).
The question is should the first piston be going up or down?

The only true way to do it is pull the oilpump/timing cover and use the marked links on the chain and the timing marks on the crank pulley and the cam gear. Piston direction is not a factor if you follow the proper method.
