S gas cap/door on a base model?????

So today I was sitting outside a store and an F56 "S" parked next to me....
I have to say.... I like the look of the gas door on the S.
I know I can order the door, but what about the trim ring... Is this part available?
I'm assuming it would need to be painted. Does this still lock like my base model?

Isn't that just the old pre-LCI gas cap? Anyway I remember a thread here from a while back where someone had that type of gas cap and wanted to swap it with the style that sits flush with the body panel. They said there were some issues like the fuel neck is actually a different part and it's not a straight forward swap.

I did the swap on my last F56 (and R56)

All you need is the surround which can sometimes be found in your colour on ebay or at a breakers and the fuel cap unit then it's a straight swap

I'm strange, I like the before pic better. Trying to find anything painted for the F56 in factory Electric Blue is impossible.

The more I think about it, I do kind a like the generic gas door. I might think about this for a while

I like the older one cause it keeps the dust and dirt out. I'm OCD about getting the dust out of the gas cap area whenever I'm filling up. The older door model would help me here, haha.

Much prefer the chrome cap myself - looks more sporty

I'm biased, but I prefer the less ornate look of the cover on the Justa models.

How it's the door removed? Is there any tutorial on the web?

Same as swapping on the Gen 2 models - takes less than 30 mins to do
