F60 Meet "Haze" my 2020 JCW CTM All4
Yes, I wasn't very happy they took the intricate extra leather crafting off the rear and did the perforation on the front.
Mikah, told me she sold you your Countryman. Glad you got it back up and going. It's actually sunny today for pictures.
They also took the ability to write with your finger on the joystick and made the **** smaller.
But, man can you feel 331 lb ft of torque push you hard with the slightest of pedal push.
Thanks!

And that finger writing thing... not all that useful anyway.

It is not great photos on a phone due to strobe effect. The center circle is the brightest part, but strobes the most and gets washed out. Probably need a professional photographer to get it right. I have it at middle range brightness, so it can go brighter, but it looks great in person. This is also maybe just a bit over half the different shades it scrolls through.
@Galandel Ok i have some questions please, when you choose the illuminated trim, does that completely remove the JCW Red accented trim? and did you order the black jcw grill from the factory or did that have to be done by the dealer?
As for the grill I had the dealer do it. You have got to buy the all black grill. Around $300.00. I just paid them to do it which costs too much for what it is. You can do it yourself. The outer ring can be removed from the grill. They just took the outer ring off and attached it to my factory one because I wanted to keep the Red, because it was part of the reason I chose Thunder Grey, because Red looks good with Grey. I have the grill I purchased they gave me with my factory chrome attached to it in a box they left in the CTM when I picked it up.
What's your experience been with it so far? The ease with which it integrates into the car is appealing, but not sure how it compares overall to aftermarket options.
am wondering the same. i had prev reviews on the Advanced Eye 1.0 and it did not get the best reviews; basically back then you were better off w/an aftermarket solution but.. 2.0 looks promising and very CLEAN / integrated. let us know as i'm curious too. i am planning on a hardwired dashcam once my Clyde comes but if this thing works great i may go this route later next year.
I have not got the Advanced Car Eye going yet as far as software. Every time I start the car a voice says recording started and that it is shutting down when I turn it off. It comes with a USB adaptor you can take the media out of the camera and insert it into to play in software on your computer. But, every time the media goes back in the camera it reformats, hence erases everything.
I wanted it setup to view on my phone, but when I went to setup the software it said Apple Carplay had to be switched off. I did that and still wasn't sure about the instructions that say to change the name of the Wifi connection and password the first time you set it up. I did and nothing happened. So, I looked in the paperwork for a specific Wifi name to use. Bottom line is I have not got it operating as of yet. It does say you can turn Carplay back on after it is set up, but it also says Carplay interferes with it, so I am needing more info also.
Not sure when I will get it all sorted. The car has been in the garage since Friday and with all this rain, right now I do not know when I'll get back to messing with it.
Sorry guys. I'm sure it will get worked out eventually, but judgements still out on it for me. The dealer wanted 1019.00 installed, which I believe the price of the unit was 469.00, but they actually said it ended up being less labor, and it was 900.00.

one of the biggest concerns for owners is that it appears info about the system is very scarce and hard to find (at least BMW owners that is). def will be checking back to hear about how it works in a MINI IRL after initial setup issues are worked out.
Advanced Car Eye up and running. Actually pretty easy to get working when you follow instructions in the manual. My mistake was even when you pick the Mini version an the App, it wants to connect to BMWACE2.0 Wifi, which I thought should be MiniACE2.0, and since my phone wouldn't find "Mini" instead of "BMW" I went back and tried to connect with the BMW option. This screwed up all attempts from that point on regardless of trying to go to Mini option or whatever. After reading the manual and it stating you could only do one or the other or you would have to delete the App and reload it.
So, I reloaded it and started over. Picked the Mini option. When it asked to connect to BMWACE2.0 I pressed ok/Connect and it connected and the green Wifi light on the front camera illuminated. This is when it shows a message on your phone to change the WiFi name and default password. I just took it in it would work and gave the Wifi connection a completely different name and changed the password. It worked and now I connect to the renamed network of my name choosing. I watched a video where someone just put what looked like their initials at the end of the BMWACE2.0, but I completely changed all of it to a name that made sense to me and all is good.
Now, the system is a little bit not as I anticipated because you get a warning not to use the App while the ignition is on. Which kind of sucks you have to sit in the car with accessory mode in the heat and not have the car running. Well, I said screw that and checked to see videos idling in the drive way. It must have a timer that turns it off if you use it for a certain amount of time, but not before I saw some videos. I saw the guys doing the install. I saw the salesperson driving to get the windows tinted. I watched some video of when my wife and I were on our way home on delivery night, and you can switch from front camera to rear camera while watching.
Then, it switched the connection to the App off. Plenty of time though to do a quick look at a video if you have an incident, and of course you can turn the vehicle off and acc. on and watch if your environment is suitable.
It seems they intend for you to take the media out when the vehicle and system is shut down and put it in the media USB adaptor provided and use the PC version of the software to manipulate the data. Like I stated in my previous post though, the next time the media goes back into the camera it will be reformatted and start all over on video collecting.
I will probably use this method mostly for watching, copying, manipulating video for multiple uses as I see fit, so I am going to buy a second Micro Media that I can put in when I take one out. That way I can take my time pulling video without worrying about having media in the system for a few days, for example.
I did not see a limit on the media for formatting, so I'm going to buy a larger capacity and see if it doesn't take too long to format. It comes with 32GB. I'll start with a 64GB and if it works maybe go up to 500GB for vacation footage depending how it goes. 500GB with the jacket and another USB Adaptor is 40 buck at Amazon.

@Galandel (or anyone else that owns a 2020 JCW CTM)...I have found the exhaust doesn't "resonate" quite like the R56 did...and I mean we are getting nothing...no pops, crackles or snaps on downshifts...it does have a nice rumble, but what happened? I even had it back to the dealership for something else and asked my SA about it...they had the techs check it out..."it needs to break in"...I called BS on that...the one we test drove had 17 miles on it and popped.
Anyone else less than satisfied with the exhaust note? I do know you can spend $2K and get a race exhaust...but why wouldn't it sound at least as good as the R56 and at a minimum, like the one I test drove. And yes...in sport mode (all around).

Mine has 99 miles on it right now. I have not driven it too much yet, but my last little jaunt I had it in normal and started noticing a bit more rumble (overrun) and pops as I slowed down at the first stop sign. I put it in Sport after that and drove it some in Auto and then some in Sport Auto and Manual Auto. I noticed it getting more frisky from the exhaust at close to 100 miles than I did previously. Watch the Raiti's Ride video to get a better idea. He drives it pretty hard at the end of the video for about 7-8 minutes or so at the end of his review. Search the Net for 2020 Mini Countryman JCW and there are 3 videos I have watched about a million times. Raiti's is the best and most thorough though.
I realized you specified on downshifts. The transmission in the 2020 Countryman rev matches on downshifts, so you won't get as many pops if at all. This is especially noticeable in Sport Auto. Shifter moved to left, but let the vehicle do the shifting. It will hold the gears much longer. Under deceleration with it held in a gear for a bit as in this mode you get pops. I think that is why I wasn't noticing pops at first because I expected it on a downshifts and it won't necessarily happen with the rev match unless you have wound the rpms up in a gear and it downshifts at a point it will decelerate a bit in that gear. I watched a video of two you tubers drive the 2020 JCW Clubman and they both liked the transmission in Autosport the best, which is why I tried it to begin with.
I personally like the pops less because overrun can not be good for the longevity of an engine. I have tuned almost all the pops out of my Abarth as it approaches 300 whp, and it was the popping king.

just put on 100 miles on my clyde and would agree that the burple and pops will start becoming real after we put more miles on. i noticed that when i accelerated hard in sport mode at around 4K rpm when i shifted i could hear the beginings of the burple and pop.
wow, do these things drive well!! and man, i am gonna have to check my speed. its way too easy to be going 10+mph above the limit and not feel like you are going that fast

I noticed I was constantly going way faster than I thought I was.
