Hi! I recently purchased a 2012 Countryman S. The check engine light has been on since I bought the car. I took it to mechanic and they replaced the valve cover and the turbo boot. After leaving the shop the light came back on. Since then the car sometimes has a clicking sound coming from the glove compartment area and the interior lights flash. Once while stopped @ a traffic light it cut off completely but then started right back. The dealer I purchased it from said they’d recently replaced the battery. Can anyone help with this? I’ve already spent over $1,000 trying to get the check engine lights off. Please help!

 

I would have taken it back to the dealer and had them fix it right... You need to at least have the computer scanned to see the codes for the CEL. If you post those here then I believe there are many knowledgeable good people that can help point you in the right direction and stop wasting/spending all this money perhaps.

 

If your Mini has the IBS (Intelligent Battery System) the dealer would have had to "register it with the car". If they just threw one in, then it could have prematurely killed it again.

 

Where do you live? Maybe a member is close enough to scan it for you.

Also, the large chain auto parts stores will read your codes for you, and most will print them out for you.
