Question 2020 JCW's with Stop and Go features?

So.. been geeking out to some user manuals for the new 2020 JCW Countrymans while my Clyde awaits being built, etc. So, does anyone have any more details on how the Stop and Go feature works? sounds like its basically used in traffic and the system will stop and go automatically but wondering if others had this system in their 2019 or 2018 models or if this is completely new for 2020 JCW Countrymans?

Link to user manual: https://www.miniusa.com/content/dam/...s/MY19/f60.pdf

TIA!

I personally don't like and don't use it. Fortunately there's a switch that can deactivate it so you don't have to turn it off every time you drive the car like some manufactures.

I believe it's always off in Sport Mode.
But to answer your question, yes it is automatic. Pretty much every manufacturer installs these now. It's supposed to help with MPGs.
What I don't care for is even if you are just coming to a stop sign, the engine will turn off. A stop light I can understand. But I guess these systems aren't that "smart" yet.
Anyway, as soon as your foot starts lifting off the pedal it comes back on. It's fairly seamless but you do feel it and you would lose a fraction of a second in launch.
If your ac is running it may or may not activate. If the engine turns off it will decrease your AC fan speed. Or you could be sitting at a light and half way through the engine restarts so your AC can run fully. It's measuring the temp in the car.

Works well on manual transmission vehicles, engine only turns off when you let out the clutch in neutral and turns back on as soon as you press in the clutch. It doesn't work well on automatics since it cuts off when you come to stop and starts back up when you move your foot off of the brake which can make for a jerky experience if you're trying to inch your way forward.

I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about the stop & go function of the camera-based cruise control, not the auto start/stop function that (generally speaking) shuts the engine off when the vehicle comes to a stop.

So option 541, Active Cruise Control which comes with ZD2 Driver Assistance Package? It's page 189 of the manual incase anyone else is looking for it.

I have no idea how well that works in the Mini, I've avoided ordering those packages since I never use the self driving features of my XC90.

yup! thats the feature i was asking about. i def am not a fan of the auto off/on. had a loaner BMW 3series w/it and it totally freaked me out at the first stop sign.. i thought i had killed it and then let off brake and started up.. hehe..

i mainly wanted the active cruise control since i drive about 300 miles a weekend to my parents farm and envy my pals that have it on their newer SUVs.. the stop and go feature is one that is supposed to basically work like Tesla's do but at slow speeds, traffic. i honestly am just a bit leary on this one. i may test it out in a very controlled environment once i get my Clyde.

i really should prob just do a video series on all of the driver assistance features since i think i have them all. yea, i like to put checks in boxes.
