Upholstery choices

Getting ready to replace my ‘06 MINI, and I’d like some opinions on upholstery. Currently I have leatherette, and it’s been fine, but a car I’m looking at has the leatherette/cloth. Pros/cons, opinions, please.

l'ette is plastic and I do NOT like them (Mrs R59 has 'em)

I stuck with cloth for years to stay away from plastic ... but cloth has wear issues and especially will soak up sweat
so regular cleaning is a good idea

First car I had with leather was my 2002 Cooper-S (lapis blue interior)

and I've never looked back .....

but if all you've had was L'ette and now can get some cloth .... go for it!!!!! Cloth is so much cooler in the summer.

Sticking with the Captain’s term, I don’t like the plastic seats in my 06 MINI but love them in my Mazda. In the Mazda, they are an improvement over leather. In the MINI, they are just plastic. There are advantages of vinyl, leather and cloth, but the quality of the material is important.

What do you think of as a comfortable seat. I would start there. I would take a good quality cloth any day but looking at new cars, my opinion must not be universal.

Well, I’m gonna going with the leather and black pearl cloth (since that’s what’s on it. It does give a different look and probably a softer seat. I plan on putting some sort of protection on it.
