Post R56 Gas cap to R60

Hi everyone,

Is there any way i can fit the R56 Gas cap to my r60?

Any thread i can refer to?

Please help. Got Stuck on this.

The R56 and R60 use same filler cap (part # 16117222391), which is also used by a lot of other MINI and BMW models as well.

It should be completely interchangeable between R56 and R60. What exactly is the problem you're having?

The bottom part cant fit exactly to the hole.

I guess you're referring to the cover, not the actual "gas cap" itself. Someone else will have to help you with that.

It's been done before but there isn't a lot of info on it.

I was able to determine that the inner lining must be reworked to account for the larger hinge, but how/what to do is unknown.

Unfortunately, I don't have much info. That image came from another thread here on NAM but the car owner hasn't been online in several years and the thread is ancient. Sorry, I'm not of more help!

U did me alot of help. Thanks anyway.
Been looking for few weeks, still no idea how to rework.
